Editing groups in Round Robin
Use group editing when you need to move players or teams between groups or remove a player or team from an existing round robin schedule.
If matches have already been generated, group changes do not update existing matchups automatically. Use Regenerate after any edit that changes active groups or matchups. Use Withdraw only when you move players or teams to Excluded.
Open group editing
Tap the admin button on the matches page.
Select Edit Groups.
Review the current groups and the Excluded section.
Players or teams are already assigned to groups when you open this screen. You can move them between groups as needed.
Move players or teams between groups
Each group shows the players or teams currently assigned to it.
Drag a player or team from one group to another group to reassign it.
Drag a player or team into Excluded to remove it from the schedule.
Use the search bar to find a specific player or team.
Tap Save Changes when you are done.
Choose Withdraw or Regenerate
After you save, the confirmation dialog shows which players or teams will be affected.
Withdraw: This option appears only when you move players or teams to Excluded. It deletes any unplayed matches that include the excluded player or team. Completed results, existing court assignments, and the rest of the schedule stay in place.
Regenerate: Use this after any other edit, including moving players or teams between groups, or when you need to rebuild the schedule from scratch. You can also regenerate starting from a specific round when you need to update the schedule without rebuilding earlier completed rounds.
Withdraw does not fill bye slots or rebalance the schedule. If excluding a player or team creates byes, or if you changed group assignments, use Regenerate.
Withdraw is available for all round robin formats, including standard team formats and rotating partner formats. Use Withdraw only when you are removing a player or team by moving them to Excluded. Use Regenerate for all other edits.
How group editing works by format
In standard Round Robin, groups contain teams, so you move partner pairs together. In rotating partner formats, groups contain individual players because partners change each round. For format details, see Round Robin formats overview and Rotating partner Round Robin formats.
Add or remove groups
Tap + to add a group.
Tap X on an empty group to remove it.
A group must be empty before you can delete it.
When to make group changes
If you move players or teams between groups after matches exist, use Regenerate to rebuild the schedule. If you remove a player or team by moving them to Excluded, use Withdraw to preserve completed results. For next steps, see Generating matches in Round Robin and Managing rounds in Round Robin.
