Ladder formats overview
Use this guide to pick the ladder format that fits your league. Start with whether players move as individuals or fixed teams, and how much movement you want between rounds.
Set up the event type first with Choosing event type (Tournament, League, Single Day).
Compare ladder formats
Format | Best for | Choose this when |
|---|---|---|
Individual player ladders | Players enter as individuals and move up or down the ladder based on their own results. | |
Fixed teams | Players keep the same partner for the full league while teams move between groups. | |
Flexible player movement | You need players or teams to move between groups between rounds. | |
Alternative ladder sorting | You want a ladder-style league with a different method for sorting players between rounds. | |
Top-group progression | You want ladder-style progression with a different approach to how players advance between rounds. | |
Rotating-partner group play | Players rotate partners based on results—winners stay together, losers get new partners. Ideal for groups of 8. |
What changes between rounds
After each round, you can generate new matches so the ladder keeps moving.
