Playing in a Rotating Partner Round Robin
You signed up on your own, and you will play with a different partner every round. This guide covers what to expect as a player.
What the format is
You entered as an individual, not as half of a pair. Each round the app pairs you with someone new and puts you on a court. You do not need to find a partner, and you cannot request one — the schedule handles it.
Over the event you will partner with a lot of different people and face a lot of different opponents. That is the point of the format.
Find your match
Open the event and go to the Matches tab. Each round shows your match with:
Who your partner is for that round
Who you are playing against
Your court, once the host has assigned courts
Your partner changes from round to round, so check each round rather than assuming you are with the same person. If your host has notifications turned on, you will get an alert when a new round is published.
If you have a bye
Some rounds you may sit out. This is called a bye and it is completely normal.
A match needs four players, so whenever the number of players in your group does not divide evenly, somebody has to sit. The app spreads byes around so the same people are not always the ones sitting.
A bye is not a loss. It does not go against your record — you simply have one fewer game played than someone who played that round.
How standings work
Your record is yours. Even though you play with a different partner every round, your wins and losses follow you personally, not the partnership.
A win counts for you regardless of who you were partnered with.
A weak round with one partner does not follow you into the next round.
There is one standings table for the whole event. In a league, every week you play feeds the same running record rather than restarting each session.
Final placements are per player for the same reason.
Leagues: opt in for the weeks you can play
If your event runs across multiple dates, you tell the host which sessions you are playing by opting in.
You choose Opt In or Opt Out for each date separately. You can play week 1, skip week 2, and play week 3.
There is a deadline before each session. After it passes you will see Opt-in deadline has passed.
If you never respond, you are treated as opted out for that session and will not be scheduled.
Opt in before the deadline whenever you plan to play — the host builds that week's matches from whoever opted in. For the steps, see Opting in or out of a league week.
If you cannot make it
Let your host know as early as you can.
Before the schedule is built — opt out, or ask to be left out of that date. Nothing else is needed.
After the schedule is built — the host can rebuild the remaining rounds without you, so tell them rather than just not showing up.
If you want to send someone in your place — ask your host. In leagues they can register a substitute for specific dates. Depending on the event's rules, games your substitute plays may not count toward your standings.
Mixed Gender events
If your event is Mixed Gender Rotating Partners, every pairing is one male and one female player, and your partner changes each round as normal.
Make sure your gender is set correctly on your profile — the app uses it to build the pairings, and a missing or wrong value can leave you paired incorrectly.
Entering scores
Some hosts let players enter their own scores from the match card; others keep score entry with staff. If you are not sure which applies to your event, ask your host.
