Make two registered players a team or change a player's partner
To pair two players who are already registered, open the event's Host Dashboard, go to the Players tab, tap the pencil icon next to one of them, choose the other in the Partner field and tap Save. That links both players at once, and the same steps change a partner. Both players must be in the same division.
You need to be the event's host or a club admin. The Partner field only appears in formats where partners stay together all event, and never in a singles division.
Link or change a partner
Open the event and go to the Host Dashboard.
On the Players tab, tap the pencil icon next to one of the two players.
In Partner, search by name and pick their new partner.
Tap Save.
When you change a partner, everyone affected is updated together:
The player and their new partner now name each other.
The player's old partner is left without a partner.
If the new partner was paired with someone else, that player is left without a partner too.
Pair each player who's left on their own with someone new, or remove them. If you see No partners available in this division, nobody else in that division can be picked; add the player first. See Add players to your event.
Rules for who can be partners
Both players must be registered in the same event and the same division. To pair players across divisions, move one of them into the other's division first.
In a mixed division, partners must be one man and one woman.
A substitute can't have a partner.
Which formats have set partners
The Partner field appears in formats built around fixed doubles teams: Standard Round Robin (Set Partners), Season Points League (Set Partners), Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners), Ladder League (Set Partners), Humpty Dumpty (Set Partners), Up and Down the River (Set Partners), Reign of the Court (Set Partners), Challenge Ladder (Set Partners), Round Robin to Single Elimination, Round Robin to Double Elimination, Round Robin to Compass, Compass, and single, double and triple elimination brackets.
Formats that rotate partners have no Partner field, because we pair players fresh each round: Round Robin (Rotating Partners), Mixed Gender Rotating Partners, Round Robin with Pros, Reign of the Court, Ladder League, Up and Down the River, Humpty Dumpty (Individual), Crazy 8's, Cream of the Crop, Pecking Order and Open Play. To fill in for an absent player in those, use a substitute instead.
After matches are generated
Linking partners doesn't change a schedule that already exists. To get a new team into play, follow the steps for your format. For Round Robin (Set Partners), see Add a team to a Round Robin (Set Partners) event in progress. If one partner is leaving the event, see Removing a player who has a set partner.
