Make sure they're searching for the exact club name. If your club has a common name, suggest they search for a unique part of the name or confirm the spelling.
Helping Players Get Started
This guide explains how to help players set up their Good Game Sports account, find your club, and claim their player profile for events and leagues. Use this when onboarding new players or when players ask for setup assistance.
Players can complete these steps in the mobile app (iOS or Android) or on the web at app.ggsports.co. If a player has already registered for an event, some profile details may be pre-filled.
Step 1: Help players create an account
Players need a Good Game Sports account before they can join events or leagues. Walk them through the following steps.
Download the app or visit the web
Direct players to one of these options:
iOS: Download from the App Store
Android: Download from Google Play
Web: Go to app.ggsports.co
Sign in or create an account
Instruct players to:
Open the app or website and navigate to the Profile tab.
Tap Sign In.
Choose their preferred sign-in method (email, Google, Apple, etc.).
Complete the 3-step profile setup
After signing in, players go through a quick 3-step setup process:
Step 1: Profile Information
Players enter their basic details:
First Name
Last Name
Email
Username — Must be unique; this appears on leaderboards and in tournament brackets.
Birthday — Required for age-based divisions and eligibility.
If a player's preferred username is already taken, they'll need to choose a different one. Suggest adding a number or initials to make it unique.
Step 2: Location & Preferences
Players set their location and notification preferences:
Primary Location — Players can use their current location or search for a specific location. This helps the app show relevant nearby events.
Tournament Search Radius — How far they're willing to travel for tournaments: 25, 50, 75, or 100 miles.
Weekly Tournament Digest — Opt in to receive an email every Friday with tournaments near their primary location.
Step 3: Skill Level & Ratings
Players can optionally add their skill information:
Skill Level — Optional self-rated skill level: Less than 2.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, or 5.0+.
DUPR — Optional connection to link their DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) account for accurate rating sync.
Once players complete these three steps, they're taken to the main tournaments page and are ready to find events.
Step 2: Help players find your club
Once a player's account is set up, they need to find your club. Guide them through:
Open the Clubs tab in the bottom navigation.
Search for your club by name.
Tap on the club to open its page.
Favoriting for quick access
If a player uses your club regularly, suggest they tap the heart icon to add it to their favorites. Favorited clubs appear at the top of the Clubs tab for faster access.
Step 3: Help players claim their profile
When you add players to an event or league, they appear in the participant list but must claim their profile to access schedules, report scores, and receive notifications.
How players claim their profile
Instruct players to:
From your club's page, tap on the event or league they're joining.
Open Player Hub.
Tap the Claim tab.
Find their name in the list and tap Claim next to it.
Email verification
Players may be prompted to enter their email address and complete verification. This confirms they're the correct player and ensures they receive event notifications.
If a player doesn't see their name in the Claim list, check that you've added them to the event. They can only claim a profile after you've registered them.
Step 4: Help league players opt in
For leagues with weekly sessions, players can indicate their availability each week. This helps you plan courts and matchups.
How players opt in or out
Instruct league players to:
Open Player Hub from the league page.
Tap the Opt In tab.
Select Opt In to confirm attendance, or Opt Out if they can't make it.
Players can change their status anytime during the week before the event. For more details, direct them to Opt in or out of a league week.
Encourage players to opt in early so you can plan courts and matchups. They can always opt out later if plans change.
What players can do after claiming
Once a player has claimed their profile, they can:
Check their schedule: View match times, court assignments, and opponent details.
Report scores: Enter scores after matches so brackets and standings update automatically.
Get notified: Receive real-time alerts about match times, court changes, and results via push notifications.
Troubleshooting common player issues
Player can't find your club
Player doesn't see their name in the Claim list
Verify that you've added the player to the event or league. Players can only claim profiles that have been created by the organizer. If the player is registered but still doesn't see their name, check for spelling variations or duplicate entries.
Player isn't receiving notifications
Have the player check their notification settings in their profile. They should enable push notifications for the app and confirm their email address is verified. Some devices require notification permissions to be enabled in system settings.
Player forgot their username or sign-in method
Players can sign in using any method they originally used (email, Google, Apple). If they're unsure which method they used, try each option. Their account is tied to their email address, so signing in with the same email will restore their profile.
Support contacts
If you or your players need additional help:
Players can email [email protected] for direct support.
As the organizer, you can contact the Good Game Sports team for assistance with player registration issues.
