Stop a substitute from moving a player up or down in Ladder League
In Ladder League and Ladder League (Set Partners), you choose per division whether a night a substitute played can move the rostered player between courts. Both directions are allowed by default; change them under When a Substitute Plays in Ladder League Configuration.
Change the substitute movement rule
You need to be a host or club admin for the event.
On the Host Dashboard, go to Settings, then Event Settings.
Open Ladder League Configuration for the division.
Under When a Substitute Plays, set Can move the player up and Can move the player down.
Tap Save Configuration.
How the rule is applied
A common house rule is to turn off Can move the player up, so a sub's win can't promote someone but a loss can still drop them.
A player held back from a promotion stays on their court rather than dropping a court instead. If the court has no spare place to hold them, they keep the move they earned.
The rule applies even when the sub played only some of the night's games.
This setting only affects court movement. Whether the sub's results count in the standings is a separate setting; see Keep a sub pool and choose how subs affect standings. For the other settings in this panel, see Ladder League Configuration settings.
