Generation fails on team count.
Cause: You need exactly groups × teams per group fully partnered teams. With the defaults that is 16 teams — 32 players, all paired. Unpaired players do not count.
Fix: Pair everyone, or adjust the roster until it matches your configured shape exactly.
Five or seven teams per group is rejected.
Cause: Group size must be even. Odd sizes would need bye weeks and a different playoff shape, which is not supported.
Fix: Use 4, 6 or 8. See Custom groups and blocks.
Your play dates do not line up with the playoff weeks.
Cause: The schedule is derived from your group size, not fixed to particular weeks. A block is (teams per group − 1) round robin weeks plus one playoff week — so groups of 6 push the first playoff to week 6, not week 4.
Fix: Recalculate your dates from your actual shape. See Custom groups and blocks for the week maths.
In a larger group, only some teams played that week.
Cause: Only the top two and bottom two of a group play playoff matches, whatever the group size. With groups of 6 or 8, the middle teams have no playoff match — they are ranked by their block standings instead.
Fix: Expected. If you want everyone playing every playoff week, use groups of 4.
The top group's matches changed nothing.
Cause: Group A cannot promote out of the top, and the bottom group cannot relegate out of the bottom. Those matches are still played, but they only set standing.
Fix: Nothing to fix — and that standing is not wasted. It feeds the final bracket seeding.
A team with a worse record seeded above one with a better record.
Cause: Bracket seeds are banded by final group and ordered inside each band by a fixed rule, not by raw record. Every Group A team seeds above every Group B team.
Within a band the order is: relegated-in team, top-match loser, any middle teams, bottom-match winner, promoted-in team.
Fix: Working as designed. The counterintuitive part is deliberate — a team relegated into a group seeds at the top of it, and a team promoted into a group seeds at the bottom. Coming down from a stronger group is treated as better than climbing from a weaker one. See Playoff weeks and the final bracket.
You have 12 or 20 teams rather than 16 or 32.
Cause: No problem. The bracket pads to the next power of two with byes.
Fix: Nothing needed. Top seeds receive the byes and advance automatically.
You would rather finish on standings.
Fix: Turn the final bracket off. The season then ends on the last block's standings.
