Set up sales tax for your club
The club owner sets sales tax in your club's Settings under Club > Sales tax. Add a rate, then choose it as your Club default or for specific areas such as Events or Memberships. Tax is added on top of your prices at checkout and lands in your Stripe account with the rest of the payment. Nothing is taxed until you pick a rate.
Your club is responsible for choosing the correct rate and for filing and paying the tax. We collect it for you but don't remit it on your behalf.
Who can set it up
Only the club owner can add, edit or delete rates and choose what gets taxed. Sales tax only appears in Settings for the club owner, so staff admins can't change it.
Add a tax rate
Open your club page and go to Settings.
Under Club, click Sales tax.
In Your rates, click Add a rate.
Enter a name, for example "MI Sales Tax", and the Percent.
Click Add.
A rate can be from 0.01% to 30%. The name appears on your members' receipts. Adding a rate doesn't tax anything yet; you still have to choose where it applies.
Choose what gets taxed
Set a Club default to tax everything at one rate, then change individual areas under What gets taxed if they need a different rate or no tax. The areas are:
Memberships: dues on every tier
Court bookings: court time members and guests book
Coaching & lessons: private and group lessons
Events: registration for leagues, tournaments and open play
Passes: prepaid packs of play
Retail: goods the front desk register sells
Within an area you can also set a rate on a single item, such as one membership tier, lesson type, pass, retail category or booking event type. For each item, pick a rate, Use the club default, or No tax.
The most specific setting wins: the item's own setting, then its area, then the club default. Choosing No tax on an item means it is never taxed, even if the area or club default has a rate.
How tax works on event registrations
Tax is added on top of the price you set, not included in it.
It's charged on the entry and division prices after any promo code or pass credit, and on drop-in day passes.
The service fee and the video package aren't taxed.
Players see the tax as its own line at checkout, above the service fee. The line shows your rate's name. A name that already says tax, such as "MI Sales Tax", is shown as it is. Otherwise we add "Sales tax" in front, so "Georgia" shows as "Sales tax (Georgia)".
Change or delete a rate
In Your rates, use the edit (pencil) or delete (bin) icon next to a rate. A change applies to what you charge from now on. Payments already taken keep the tax they were charged.
Deleting a rate stops everything that used it from being taxed. It doesn't fall back to your club default, so pick a new rate for those areas afterwards.
Refunds and reports
A full refund returns the tax the player paid. A partial refund for one division returns that division's share of the tax.
If your club has memberships turned on, the owner can see what you collected in Billing & Reports > Transactions. The Sales tax collected total is net of refunds, and each payment's breakdown shows Sales tax (yours to file) separately from service and card fees. Retail sales reports show Tax collected.
