Managing Players

Assign different substitutes for different weeks or rounds

Hosts can assign a different substitute player for each week or round in a league or round-robin event. Each saved substitute is locked to the dates you select, so changing this week’s or round’s replacement never rewrites who subbed in previous weeks or rounds.

Open the Substitute dialog

Go to the Host Dashboard, open the Players tab, and tap the sub icon (↔) next to the player who is out.

Add a substitute for specific dates

  1. Tap the sub icon next to the player who needs a replacement.

  2. In the Substitute Name field, enter or select the substitute.

  3. (Optional) Set a Points Deduction, or toggle Win Does Not Count if that sub’s wins should not affect standings.

  4. Under Select Dates for Substitute, check the dates or rounds the sub will cover. Tap the chevron (⌄) on a date to expand it and choose individual rounds without selecting the whole day.

  5. Tap Update.

Add multiple subs for the same player

Add substitutes one at a time. Each save only changes the dates or rounds you check and leaves the other weeks or rounds untouched.

  1. Open the Substitute dialog and enter or select Sub A.

  2. Check only the Week 1 date, then tap Update.

  3. Reopen the dialog for the same original player, clear the name field with the button, and enter or select Sub B.

  4. Check only the Round 2 date, then tap Update.

Result: Week 1 keeps Sub A, Round 2 keeps Sub B, and earlier match history stays unchanged. Repeat for as many different subs as the season needs.

Replace a sub on an already-covered date

To swap the substitute on a date that already has one assigned, enter the new name, check that date, and save.

  1. Set the new substitute in the Substitute Name field.

  2. Check the date you want to replace. The badge turns amber and reads Sub: Max → Dana to show the pending switch.

  3. Tap Update. That date or round switches to the new sub, and every unchecked date keeps its existing sub.

Shortcuts and badges in the dialog

  • See a sub’s current dates: pick a name from the dropdown and the dates they already cover auto-check and expand so you can review or adjust them.

  • ✕ clear button: wipes the name field so you can start a brand-new substitute.

  • Green badge: Sub: Name means that date already has that substitute assigned.

  • Amber badge: Sub: A → B means you are replacing the existing sub on that date when you save.

Rules and behavior

  • One sub per round. The same person cannot sub for two different players on the same date or round. If you try, you’ll see a message like “Dana is already subbing for another player on July 8.”

  • Byes are allowed. You can record a substitute for a week or round even if the original player is on a bye that date or round.

  • History is preserved. Editing a sub going forward never changes the names recorded for past weeks or rounds.

  • Penalties apply by date. Points deductions and the “win does not count” / two-sub penalty apply only on the dates the substitute actually plays.
