Create a Promotion/Relegation League
Create a Promotion/Relegation League as a League event with the format Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners) and a Doubles division. Teams play as fixed pairs and keep the same partner all season. You choose the group structure later, when you first generate the league.
This format was previously called Relegation League (Set Partners).
Create the event
If the event already exists in CourtReserve and registrations should stay linked, create it from CourtReserve instead (see Create a GGS event from a CourtReserve event). An event created directly in Good Game Sports can't be linked to CourtReserve later.
On your club page, click + Create Event.
Enter the Event Name and set Event Type to League.
Set Format to Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners).
Fill in location, dates, registration type and pricing.
On the divisions step, set Division Type to Doubles, then create the event.
Plan your team count and calendar
The default is 4 groups of 4 teams (16 teams), two blocks and a final bracket. In the League Structure dialog you can pick 2 to 8 groups, 4, 6 or 8 teams per group, and 1 to 4 blocks. You need exactly groups × teams per group teams, so set your registration limit to match.
Each block is a round robin (teams per group − 1 weeks) plus a playoff week. With the defaults the season runs:

Groups of 6 make each block 6 weeks and groups of 8 make it 8, so add play dates for your actual shape. See Change groups, blocks and the final bracket in a Promotion/Relegation League.
Add teams
A team is two players set as each other's partner. Players without a partner are left out when the league generates.
Spreadsheet import with both partners on each row is fastest.
Add players individually and use the pencil icon to set each player's partner.
CourtReserve sync pulls registrations into the Players tab (see Sync players into an event).
Generate the league
When your teams are in, open the admin menu on the MATCHES tab and choose Generate Groups. Set the structure in League Structure, including whether to finish with a Final knockout bracket, then confirm. The structure is locked once any match has a score.
