Create a Promotion/Relegation League
Promotion/Relegation League is always a League event. Teams register as fixed pairs and keep the same partner all season.
Look for Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners) in the format dropdown. This format was previously called Relegation League (Set Partners).
Create from CourtReserve
Use this when the event already exists in CourtReserve and registrations should stay linked.
Before you start: club owner access in Good Game Sports, CourtReserve admin access, and a CourtReserve plan with API access (Scale or Enterprise). If the integration is not connected, complete Enable API access in CourtReserve and Connect CourtReserve first.
Open your club page, then click Manage Club.
Select CourtReserve Events.
Find your event under Unpublished. Events sync from 2 days in the past to 100 days in the future.
Click + Create Event on GGS.
Set Event Type to League, Type to Doubles, and Format to Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners).
Click Create Event.
An event created directly in Good Game Sports cannot be linked to CourtReserve later. If you want registration sync, start from CourtReserve.
Create directly in Good Game Sports
From the dashboard, click + Create Event.
Enter the Event Name and set Event Type to League.
Set Format to Promotion/Relegation League (Set Partners).
Fill in Location Details and Date and Time.
Choose your Registration Type and pricing, then continue.
On the divisions step set Division Type to Doubles and confirm the format.
Complete the description sections, then create the event.
Decide your shape
The default is 4 groups of 4 teams — 16 teams.
Group size is configurable, and it drives the calendar as well as the roster:
Team count is groups × group size.
Round robin length is group size minus one. Groups of 4 play a 3-week round robin; groups of 5 play 4 weeks.
Block length follows, since each block is a round robin plus a playoff week.
So a larger group size means a longer season for the same number of blocks.
Plan the calendar
With the defaults — 4 groups of 4, two blocks, bracket on — a season runs:
Weeks | What happens |
|---|---|
1–3 | Block 1 round robin |
4 | Promotion/relegation playoff |
5–7 | Block 2 round robin |
8 | Promotion/relegation playoff |
9+ | Seeded knockout bracket |
Add your play dates to match. Never assume fixed week numbers if you change the group size — the schedule shifts with it.
Add teams
Teams are fixed pairs, so the roster needs to record who is with whom.
Spreadsheet import with both partners per row is fastest.
Add players individually and use the pencil icon to set each player's partner.
CourtReserve sync — go to the Players tab and click Sync CR. See Sync players into an event.
Every player must be paired before the league can generate.
Choose whether to finish with a bracket
The seeded knockout at the end is on by default. Turn it off if you would rather the season finish on the final block's standings.
Set up the season
Add your play dates to cover the blocks and the bracket.
