Getting started with Round Robin (Set Partners)

Run a Standard Round Robin (Set Partners) event by creating the division, adding teams as fixed pairs, generating the schedule, then managing courts and scores. Partners stay together the whole event and standings rank teams.

This format ends when pool play ends. If you want the round robin to seed a playoff bracket, choose one of the Round Robin to… formats at creation — Single Elimination, Double Elimination, or Compass.

Event lifecycle

1. Create the event. Choose format Round Robin (Set Partner) and pick Doubles or Singles. See Create a Round Robin (Set Partners) event.

2. Add teams. Players enter as pairs. Import a spreadsheet with both partners per row, set partners individually with the pencil icon, or sync from CourtReserve. Pair everyone before generating — unpaired players get paired automatically at generation.

3. Set up courts. Decide whether rounds should fit inside your court count. See Configure courts for Round Robin (Set Partners).

4. Generate the schedule. Pick single, double, or custom rounds, split into pools if you want, and choose whether teams can play across groups. See Generate matches for Round Robin (Set Partners).

5. Date and label your rounds. Assign dates, rename the round label, or switch between By Round and By Date. See Manage rounds and dates in Round Robin (Set Partners).

6. Score matches. Enter scores from the match card, or let teams report and validate their own. See Score Round Robin (Set Partners) matches.

7. Handle changes. Move teams between pools, withdraw a dropout, or rebuild the remaining rounds. See Edit groups and regenerate in Round Robin (Set Partners).

Good to know before you start

  • Singles works here. Unlike the rotating partner formats, this one supports both singles and doubles divisions.

  • Unpaired players get paired for you. At generation, any doubles player without a partner is paired automatically, and a leftover odd player becomes a single-player team. Set partners deliberately if the pairings matter.

  • Restrict to Courts is off by default. Matches wait for a free court rather than teams sitting out, unless you turn it on.

  • Groups are self-contained unless you say otherwise. Turn on cross-group play to let teams face opponents from other pools while still being ranked in their own.

  • Byes come from odd team counts. A group with an odd number of teams has one team sitting each round, rotating through.
