Troubleshoot Round Robin (Set Partners)

Generation created teams you did not set up, or put two unrelated players together.

Cause: In a doubles division, any player still without a partner when you generate is paired automatically. If one player is left over after that, they are entered as a single-player team.

Fix: Set partners deliberately before generating.

1. Open the Players tab.

2. Use the pencil icon on a player to edit their profile and set their partner.

3. Clear the affected rounds and generate again.

For a large roster, a spreadsheet import with both partners per row is faster than pairing people one at a time.

Generate Matches will not rebuild a round that already has matches.

Cause: You cannot layer a new schedule over an existing one.

Fix: Clear the round first, then generate again.

1. Tap the admin button, select Clear Round.

2. Choose the round and confirm. This deletes its matches and scores.

3. Run Generate Matches again.

To rebuild several rounds at once, use Regenerate from the group editor and pick a starting round instead.

You moved teams between groups and saved, but the schedule still shows the old pairings.

Cause: Group changes do not rewrite existing matches on their own.

Fix: Apply them with a regeneration.

1. Open Edit Groups, make your changes, and Save Changes.

2. When the regenerate dialog opens, choose Regenerate from a specific round.

3. Pick the first unplayed round so completed results survive.

You excluded a team and used **Withdraw Teams**, but remaining rounds have byes or lopsided pools.

Cause: Withdraw Teams deletes the unplayed matches involving that team and nothing else. It deliberately leaves the rest of the schedule intact, so it does not fill the gaps or rebalance pools.

Fix: Use Regenerate from a specific round instead, starting at the next unplayed round. That rebuilds the remaining schedule around the teams you still have while keeping completed scores.

With multiple groups, teams never face anyone from another group.

Cause: This is the default. Groups are self-contained unless you turn on cross-group play.

Fix: Enable Allow Cross-Group Play when regenerating. The app then treats all groups as one combined pool when building matches, while standings still rank each team inside its own group.

The setting is remembered on the division, so it stays on for later regenerations until you change it.

The same team keeps getting a bye.

Cause: Either the group has an odd number of teams, so somebody must sit each round, or Restrict to Courts is on and there are more teams than courts.

Fix:

• For an odd group, the bye should rotate. If it is not rotating, regenerate the remaining rounds so the schedule rebuilds the rotation.

• For a court limit, either configure more courts or turn Restrict to Courts off so matches wait for a court instead of teams sitting.

Byes never count as a loss — a team with a bye has just played one fewer match.

Round labels jump, for example 1, 3, 4.

Cause: You cleared a round that was not the last one. The gap is expected.

Fix: If you need contiguous numbering, regenerate the affected stretch of the schedule after clearing.

Scores that had already been entered are gone.

Cause: Regenerate All Rounds deletes every round including scored ones. It shows a red warning first, but it is not reversible.

Fix: There is no undo — the scores have to be re-entered. To avoid it next time, use Regenerate from a specific round and pick the first unplayed round, which is what the dialog defaults to.

After a forfeit the win-loss changed but point differential did not.

Cause: A forfeit counts as a 1–0 win and affects the win-loss record only. Point-based stats such as PD, TP and PP% are not calculated from forfeits.

Fix: Nothing to correct — this is expected. Enter a real score only when the match was actually played. See How Standings Are Calculated.
