Fix repeat or wrong partner pairings in Rotating Partner Round Robin

In a Rotating Partner Round Robin league, players can partner the same person again in a later week. That is expected: each play date is generated on its own from the players opted in for that date. Within one date the app avoids repeat partnerships, and across dates it steers away from pairings that already happened, but it cannot guarantee no repeats because each week is built separately and the roster changes. In Mixed Gender Rotating Partners, wrong pairings usually come from a player's gender being set wrong or an uneven men/women count.

The same two players were partnered again in a later week

Repeats come sooner when:

  • Groups are small. A group of 8 has far fewer possible pairings than a group of 20.

  • The format is Mixed Gender Rotating Partners, which roughly halves the possible partnerships.

  • The same core players attend every week.

To reduce repeats:

  • Use larger groups where your courts allow.

  • Tap Admin > Matchup Stats to see how many pairings repeat, and apply a suggested swap. A swap changes that round without regenerating.

  • Regenerate the date if one week looks unusually repetitive.

Mixed Gender Rotating Partners made same-gender pairs

Each partnership should be one man and one woman, so a wrong gender on a player produces wrong pairings.

  1. On the Players tab, tap the pencil next to each affected player.

  2. Set the correct Gender and save.

  3. Regenerate the rounds that were already built.

If your counts are uneven, the extra players are paired with each other. With 10 men and 6 women you get 6 mixed teams and 2 all-male teams, and regenerating will not remove them. See Set up Mixed Gender Rotating Partners to balance the roster.
