Set up a Challenge Ladder event
Setting one up is the normal event flow — there is no separate wizard. What is different is that you set the round dates rather than a weekly game night, and you set the ladder's starting order before round 1.
1. Create the event
Create the event as a League and pick the format under Ladder Formats:
Challenge Ladder — entrants are individual players
Challenge Ladder (Set Partners) — entrants are fixed pairs who register together
Divisions, pricing, waivers and registration all behave exactly as they do for any other league, so anything you already know about running one carries over.
An event can hold more than one Challenge Ladder division. Each keeps its own settings and its own ladder — nothing is shared between them.
2. Set the rules
Go to the event's host dashboard, open Settings and choose Challenge Ladder Settings. If the event has more than one ladder division you will be asked which one you are editing first.
The defaults are a working season, so you can leave every field alone and still run the event. Every field is described in Challenge Ladder settings.
3. Set the round dates
On the Matches tab, open the admin menu and choose Manage Round Dates. Give every round a start date. Adding and removing entries here is what decides how many rounds the season has.
Do this before you pair round 1 — the pairing reads the dates to work out the round's window. See Set round dates on a Challenge Ladder.
4. Let people register
Registration is the standard flow. Players sign up for the division; in the Set Partners variant they register as a pair, and that pair stays together all season.
There is nothing to opt into week by week. A Challenge Ladder has no game night to attend, so the opt-in and check-in settings other leagues use do not appear on this format.
5. Check the starting order
When you pair round 1 the ladder seeds itself from DUPR, highest rating first, with unrated entrants at the bottom.
To set it yourself instead, go to the Standings tab and use Edit order. Drag entrants into the order you want and save. Do it before round 1 is paired — the pairing is built from whatever order is in place at the time.
6. Pair round 1
Back on the Matches tab, use Pair Round 1. Every entrant gets one opponent and one play-by date, and from there the season runs itself: players arrange their matches, enter their scores, and the ladder re-sorts as results land.
Everything you can do to a round once it exists is covered in Pair rounds and fix matchups.
Finishing the season
When the last round is scored, the Bracket tab's Generate Bracket button cuts the final ladder into groups and builds a seeded knockout bracket for each one. The group size is a setting; by default it is eight, so the top eight play one bracket, the next eight play another, and so on to the bottom of the ladder.
