Troubleshoot Ladder League

The new round has the same courts and the same order as the last one.

Cause: No match in the previous round was scored. Movement is driven entirely by results, so with nothing scored the app carries the ladder forward unchanged rather than shuffling a field of 0–0 records.

Fix: Score the round, then generate again. If you already generated the empty round, clear it, enter the scores, and regenerate.

Matches are scored, but players did not move the way the results suggest.

Cause: Your division is set to individual games scoring, and matches were recorded without per-game scores. Under that setting movement follows games won — a match with no game-by-game breakdown contributes nothing.

Fix: Re-enter the affected matches with each game's score, then regenerate the next round. To avoid it, either score game by game every week or switch the division to match-wins scoring.

You adjusted one player and now nobody moves on results.

Cause: The change was recorded as a seed override rather than a pin. A seed override tells the next generation to trust the ladder as-is and skip the movement recompute for that round.

Fix: The override is consumed by that generation, so the following week returns to normal. To correct one player without suspending movement, pin them instead — see Adjust the ladder by hand.

Someone who has not played recently is sitting above regulars.

Cause: Either the absence penalty is switched off for this division, or they have only missed one day — the first absence is free.

Fix: Nothing may be wrong. The penalty starts from the second missed day and drops 2 positions per additional day. If they should be lower now, pin them into position. If you want attendance to matter more generally, check the penalty is enabled.

A system-assigned bye never counts as an absence.

One court has 4, another has 5 or 6.

Cause: This is by design. The app sizes courts from the number who opted in — 4–7 stays as one court, 11 splits into 5 and 6, and otherwise it builds courts of 4 and 5 with the 5s on top.

Fix: Nothing to fix. If you want a different shape, change how many courts you restrict to, or adjust groups by hand before generating.

Someone ranked 7th is not on the court you expected.

Cause: Ladder rank is a division-wide position from 1 to N; court boundaries are separate and courts can be uneven. You cannot read someone's court from their rank alone.

Fix: Nothing to fix — check the group editor for actual court membership.

The clear option is unavailable or blocked.

Cause: Auto-generation is running. Rounds cannot be cleared while it is on.

Fix: Stop auto-generation, clear the round, then restart it if you want. See Auto-generation in Ladder formats.

People on the roster were not scheduled.

Cause: Only players opted in for that date are included. Anyone opted out — or who never responded before the deadline — is left out and appears in Excluded in the group editor.

Fix: Check their opt-in status for that date, set it, and regenerate. See League opt-in.
