Bracket Style Formats

Running pool play to double elimination

Pool Play to Double Elimination starts with pool play and ends with a double elimination bracket. Pool play determines who advances and where each team is seeded.

How the format works

  1. Teams play round robin matches in their pool.

  2. After pool play is complete, an admin generates the bracket.

  3. The top teams advance into a double elimination bracket.

How bracket seeds are set

In this format, seeds come from pool play standings, not DUPR ratings.

  1. The system combines standings across all groups.

  2. Teams are ranked using the division's tiebreaker settings, including head-to-head when needed.

  3. The top qualifying teams fill the bracket in seed order.

  4. Any extra bracket slots become byes.

The number of teams that advance is controlled by the division's qualifying teams setting.

Generate the bracket after pool play

  1. Finish scoring all pool play matches.

  2. Review the standings.

  3. Open the bracket tab.

  4. Use the admin menu to select Generate Bracket.

For the detailed generation flow, see Generating the bracket after pool play.

Clear and generate again

Clear Knockout Bracket removes only the bracket. Pool play matches and standings stay in place, so you can regenerate without replaying the pool stage.

To understand standings and tiebreakers before you generate, see How Standings Are Calculated. After the bracket ends, use Viewing Final Placements.
