Troubleshoot Rotating Partner Round Robin

Generate Matches fails or will not rebuild a round that already has matches.

Cause: Matches already exist for that round. You cannot layer a new schedule on top of an existing one.

Fix: Clear the round first, then generate again—or rebuild from a chosen starting point.

1. On the Matches tab, tap the admin button.

2. Select Clear Round, choose the round, and confirm. Clearing deletes all matches and scores in that round and cannot be undone.

3. Select Generate Matches and confirm the new schedule.

To rebuild from a specific round onward without clearing each round one by one, use Edit Rounds → Regenerate Rounds, choose the starting round, and confirm.

You moved players between groups and saved, but the existing schedule still shows the old pairings.

Cause: Group edits do not update existing matchups automatically.

Fix: Regenerate after you save group changes.

1. Tap the admin button and open Edit Groups.

2. Move players between groups, then tap Save Changes.

3. Choose Regenerate so the schedule rebuilds with the new group assignments. You can start regeneration from a specific round to keep completed earlier rounds.

You moved a dropout to **Excluded** and used **Withdraw**, but remaining rounds still show byes or uneven groups.

Cause: Withdraw deletes unplayed matches that included the excluded player. It does not fill bye slots or rebalance the rest of the schedule. Completed results and other matches stay in place.

Fix: Use Regenerate after the exclusion when you need a balanced schedule without those byes.

1. Confirm the dropout is in Excluded under group editing.

2. Tap Save Changes.

3. Choose Regenerate from the next unplayed round so completed scores stay and new matchups exclude the dropout.

A round has more byes than you expected, even though enough players are in the group.

Cause: Restrict Courts was on during generate or regenerate, and you have fewer courts than matches needed. The app limits each round to the number of configured courts and gives remaining players a bye.

For example, with 12 doubles players and 2 courts, the app schedules 2 matches instead of 3, and the remaining team gets a bye.

Fix: Choose one of these options, then regenerate if the schedule is already built:

• Configure more courts under Configure Courts.

• Turn off Restrict Courts so the app schedules all matches and extras wait for a free court.

• Leave Restrict Courts on if you want every match in the round to start together and accept the byes.

Generation reported success, but a round contains no matches and every player in the group shows a bye.

Cause: That group has fewer than 4 players. A doubles match needs 4 people, so a group of 1, 2, or 3 cannot produce a single match. The round is still created, everyone in it sits, and no error is shown—so it is easy to miss until you look at the schedule.

This usually happens after splitting a small field into too many groups, or after excluding enough players that one group drops below 4.

Fix: Get the group to at least 4 players, then regenerate.

1. Tap the admin button and open Edit Groups.

2. Either move players into the undersized group, or move its players into another group and delete the empty one.

3. Save, then choose Regenerate.

As a rule, aim for group sizes that divide by 4—those produce no byes at all. Reducing the number of groups is usually the simplest fix for a small field.

Mixed Gender Rotating Partners created same-gender partnerships or skipped players you expected to pair.

Cause: Each partnership must be one male player and one female player. Wrong gender on a player profile produces incorrect pairings.

There is a second cause that is not an error: if your male and female counts are uneven, the surplus players are paired with each other. With 10 men and 6 women you get 6 mixed teams and 2 all-male ones, because there is nobody left to pair them with.

Fix:

1. Open each affected player's profile and set the correct gender.

2. Regenerate rounds if the schedule was already built with the wrong pairings.

If your roster genuinely is uneven, the same-gender pairs are correct and regenerating will not remove them. See Set up Mixed Gender Rotating Partners for how to balance the roster.

A player reports partnering with someone they already played with earlier in the league.

Cause: This is expected, not a scheduling fault. In leagues each play date is generated on its own, from whoever opted in for that date. Within a single date the schedule avoids repeat partnerships. Across dates the app biases away from pairings that already happened, but it cannot guarantee a player never repeats a partner, because each week is built separately and the roster changes from week to week.

Repeats come sooner when:

• Groups are small. A pool of 8 has far fewer possible pairings than a pool of 20, so it cycles back quicker.

• The format is Mixed Gender. Same-gender pairs are not allowed, which roughly halves the pool of legal partnerships.

• The same core group attends every week. More weeks with the same people means more chances to repeat.

Fix: Nothing is broken, but you can reduce repeats:

• Use larger groups where your court count allows.

• Run Admin → Matchup Stats to see how many pairings actually repeat, and apply any swap it suggests.

• Regenerate that date if a particular week looks unusually repetitive.

After clearing a round, round labels jump—for example, 1, 3, 4 instead of 1, 2, 3.

Cause: You cleared a round that was not the latest. Gaps in round numbering are expected in that case.

Fix: If you need contiguous numbers, rebuild the affected part of the schedule with Generate Matches or Regenerate Rounds after clearing. Clearing deletes all matches and scores in that round and cannot be undone, so clear only rounds you are ready to rebuild.

The trash control will not remove a game you added with **Add Game**.

Cause: You can delete an added game only when it is still an unused BYE vs BYE placeholder. Games with scores and games that are currently live cannot be deleted.

Fix:

• If the game is still BYE vs BYE and unplayed, tap the trash icon to remove it.

• If the game has scores or is live, deletion stays blocked.

Added games are not auto-assigned to a court until both teams have real players. For the full add-game path, see Add an extra game in Rotating Partner Round Robin.

A player canceled in CourtReserve still appears on your Good Game Sports event roster after sync.

Cause: Player sync adds new registrants and updates existing players. It does not remove canceled players automatically.

Fix: Remove or exclude the player manually on the event roster. For schedule impact, move them to Excluded in group editing, then use Withdraw or Regenerate as needed. Sync again only to pull new or updated registrations. See Sync players into an event.

When you generate matches for a play date, some rostered players never appear in the round.

Cause: Generation includes only players who are Opted In for that date. Players who are Opted Out show in the Excluded section of the group editor and are left out of that date's matches.

Fix:

1. On the Players tab or in group editing, check each missing player's opt-in status for that play date.

2. Set players who should play to Opted In before you generate.

3. Generate matches again for that play date.

After a forfeit, win-loss changed but point differential and other point stats did not move.

Cause: A forfeit (walkover) counts as a 1–0 win for the non-forfeiting side. It affects the win-loss record only. Point-based standings stats (such as PD, TP, and PP%) are not updated from forfeit matches.

Fix: No correction is needed—this is expected. Enter a played score only when the match was actually contested. For how each column is calculated, see How Standings Are Calculated.
