Getting started with Rotating Partner Round Robin

Run a Round Robin (Rotating Partners) event by creating a Doubles division, adding players as individuals, generating rounds, then scoring and reading individual standings. Partners change every round automatically; players never register as fixed teams.

Two variants use the same workflow: Mixed Gender Rotating Partners (one man and one woman per partnership whenever the numbers allow) and Round Robin with Pros (every player partners with and plays against a Pro once). For the format rules, see How Rotating Partner Round Robin works.

Event lifecycle

1. Create the event with format Round Robin (Rotating Partners) and division type Doubles, either from CourtReserve (registrations stay synced) or manually.

2. Add or sync players on the Players tab. In a league, add your play dates and collect opt-ins first; see Manage rounds and play dates in Rotating Partner Round Robin.

3. Set up courts if rounds should fit your court count; see Configure courts for Rotating Partner Round Robin.

4. Generate matches. Tournaments and single day events build every round at once (Generate matches for Rotating Partner Round Robin). Leagues generate one play date or all play dates at once (Generate matches by play date).

5. Score matches from each match card; see Score Rotating Partner matches.

How standings work

Standings rank individual players, not partnerships, because each pairing exists only for the round it was created in. Every match a player appears in, with any partner, feeds one running record.

• There is one standings table for the whole event, leagues included. A league does not keep separate standings per play date.

• Byes do not count as a loss; a player who sat out simply has fewer games.

• Final placements are per player.

• To look at one stretch of the event, the standings view selector has Per Date in leagues (Per Round elsewhere). The event-wide table remains the official result.

Handle mid-event changes

• Edit player groups and regenerate: move players, sit someone out, rebuild the remaining rounds, or remove a dropout

• Substitutes and player swaps: fix one match or register a substitute

• Add an extra game: fill a court gap

Good to know before you start

• Doubles only. The Division Type dropdown lists Singles, but this format has no singles schedule.

• Byes come from your player count and your court limit. Each match seats four players, so anyone left over sits that round. If you tick Restrict to N Courts, players beyond what your courts hold also sit. A group whose size divides by 4 has no byes unless the court limit caps the round.

• Groups are self-contained. Players only partner and play within their own group.

• No bracket stage. The division shows MATCHES and STANDINGS only.

• Check the schedule with Matchup Stats in the Admin menu, which flags repeated partners and opponents and can suggest a swap.
