Configuring your event

Configure game scoring and serve & side

Use Game Scoring and Serve & Side in Admin → Event Settings to show players the target score and who serves first for each match. Game Scoring is available for ladder league variants only. Serve & Side is available for all formats.

Game Scoring

Game Scoring puts a Play to X • Win by Y label on every match, so players know the target score without asking the desk. The target can vary by group size, which is useful in switch and ladder leagues where a group of 4 may play a longer game than a group of 6.

How to set it up

  1. Open your event and go to Admin → Event Settings → Ladder League Configuration.

  2. If your event has more than one division, pick the division you want to configure.

  3. Scroll to the Game Scoring section.

  4. Tap Add group size and fill in a row with the group size, target score, and win-by margin.

  5. Add a row for every group size you want to cover.

  6. Tap Save Configuration.

What players see

On the match card and on the score-entry screen, a small blue line shows the target. For example: Play to 11 • Win by 2.

When a player enters a score that does not reach the target, the app shows a gentle Check the score heads-up. It does not block the entry, so forfeits and time-capped games still go through.

What happens if a group size is missing

Game Scoring is optional. If you do not add any rows, nothing shows on the matches. If you set up rows for group sizes 4 and 5 but a group of 6 forms, that group simply sees no target score until you add a row for 6.

Serve & Side

Serve & Side shows players which team serves first and which team gets to pick the starting side for every upcoming match. It replaces the manual coin flip and keeps things consistent across courts.

How to turn it on

  1. Open your event and go to Admin → Event Settings → Serve & Side.

  2. If your event has more than one division, pick the division you want to configure. If there is only one division, the screen opens directly.

  3. Flip the toggle to On and tap Save.

To hide it again, return to the same screen, flip the toggle to Off, and tap Save.

What players see

On the match card, a small paddle icon points to the team that serves first. Tapping into the score screen shows the full assignment. For example:

  • Hayden L. & Jordan S. to serve first

  • Dinakar T. & Parker C. to pick their side

How serve assignments are decided

The serving team is spread out across matches automatically, so the same team is not always serving. Within a match, serve alternates each game so the assignment stays fair. The app never reshuffles assignments if players refresh or reopen the screen — each match keeps its original assignment.

Override serve and side for a single match

As an admin, open the match’s score screen and tap ⇄ Swap serve & side. That flips who serves and who picks the side for that match, and everyone sees the update.

Supported formats

Game Scoring is available for ladder league variants only. If you do not see it in Event Settings, your event format does not support ladder league configuration.

Serve & Side is available for all formats. If you do not see it, check that your event has divisions configured.
