MLP vs. Custom Team Event
MLP and Custom Team Event use the same team-event engine, but they differ in how much of the lineup structure is preset. Choose MLP when you want the standard five-line format. Choose Custom Team Event when you need to define the lineup structure yourself.
If you are new to team formats, start with Team and MLP-style formats overview before choosing a format.
Choose MLP when you want a standard format
MLP includes five preset lines: Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles 1, Mixed Doubles 2, and Tiebreaker. Use it when you want a fast setup that matches standard MLP-style play.
Choose Custom Team Event when you need flexibility
Custom Team Event lets you define 1 to 10 lines, custom line names, optional descriptions, and player counts for each line. Use it when your event structure does not match the standard five-line MLP setup.
What stays the same
Both formats support the same core tools:
Round robin match generation within groups
Lineup editing by round
Total Score and Total Wins scoring
Captain score entry and lineup locking
Matchup editing and court management
After you choose a format, set up Configure team lineups if needed, then review Configure team scoring.
