MLP/Team Formats

Configure team lineups

Team lineup configuration defines how many lines each team matchup includes and what each line requires. Set this up before you generate matches so every round uses the right structure.

Find this in Event Settings → Team Lineup Configuration. If you are deciding between standard MLP and a flexible setup, start with MLP vs. Custom Team Event.

What you configure for each line

  • Line name: The label shown in matchups and lineup editing, such as Women's Doubles or Mixed Doubles 1.

  • Description: An optional note that explains who can play the line.

  • Players required: How many players each side needs for that line.

Flexible lineup system

The lineup system supports any number of lines, making it adaptable to different team formats and division configurations. Add or remove lines based on your event structure—there is no fixed position limit.

Add or remove lines

Use the line configuration controls to increase or decrease the total number of lines.

  • Adding lines creates new lines with default values.

  • Removing lines deletes the selected lines.

MLP defaults

The MLP format uses five preset lines:

  1. Women's Doubles

  2. Men's Doubles

  3. Mixed Doubles 1

  4. Mixed Doubles 2

  5. Tiebreaker

Each of the first four lines requires two players per side. The tiebreaker requires four players per side.

Custom team events

Custom Team Event gives you full control over line count, line names, descriptions, and players required. Use it when your format does not match the standard MLP structure.

The tiebreaker line

The last line is usually the tiebreaker. In most events, it requires all available team members. The tiebreaker is scheduled and played like every other line. It is not added only when the matchup is tied.

After you finish lineup setup, review Configure team scoring and then Generate team matches.

Once matches are generated, you can also hide or show lineups to control what players see before play begins.
