Configure lines and lineups
A matchup is made of lines — individual matches between the two teams. You decide how many there are, what they are called, and how many players each needs.
The default
5 lines, each requiring 2 players, named Line 1 through Line 5, described as "any two players".
That is the starting point for a standard doubles team event. Everything about it can change.
What you can set per line
Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Position | The order lines appear in |
Name | What the line is called — Line 1, Mixed 1, Dreambreaker, Men's Doubles |
Players required | How many players fill this line |
Description | Guidance shown to captains setting the lineup |
Naming lines meaningfully is worth the effort — captains setting a lineup see the names, and "Mixed 1" tells them more than "Line 3".
Multi-player lines
A line can require more than two players. Dreambreaker and Team Rally formats use this.
On multi-player lines, the order players are added is significant and is preserved. It is stored as an ordered roster, not an unordered set — so the sequence a captain enters is the sequence that will be used.
Make sure captains know that if your format depends on playing order.
A separate structure for the knockout
The bracket phase can use a different lineup structure from pool play — for example 5 lines in pools and 3 in the knockout, to keep finals short.
By default the knockout mirrors pool play. Leave the knockout lineup settings unset and it uses the same lines you configured for pools.
Set them and the bracket uses its own structure, from bracket generation onward.
Locking lineups
Lock lineups prevents captains editing after they have been set. Use it once your deadline passes so lineups cannot change after opponents have seen them.
Custom names for one round
Beyond the standing line configuration, you can override line names for a specific round — useful when a particular week uses a different arrangement without changing the whole event.
Changing configuration mid-event
Changing the line structure after matches exist does not rewrite matches that are already generated. Existing matchups keep the structure they were created with.
If you need the new structure applied to rounds already generated, clear and regenerate those rounds.
