Allow guest checkout for tournament registration
Guest checkout lets someone register for a tournament without creating a Good Game Sports account first. Hosts can turn it on for paid tournaments when they want to reduce signup friction for players who are new to Good Game Sports.
Use guest checkout only for tournaments that use GGS Registration. If your event uses an external registration link, this option does not apply.
What guest checkout does
When guest checkout is enabled, a player can open the tournament registration page, enter their tournament details, add their personal information, and pay without signing in. After payment succeeds, the registration appears in your registrant list like any other entry.
Guest checkout is designed for players who want a fast registration flow for a paid event. It removes the need to create an account before checkout, but the player still provides the same core registration details you need for the event.
How to enable guest checkout
Start creating a tournament or open a tournament you are editing.
In the registration settings, turn on Allow Guest Checkout.
Save the tournament settings and share the registration page as usual.
If guest checkout is off, unsigned-in visitors are prompted to sign in before they can register.
Once guest checkout is enabled for a tournament, it cannot be turned off later. Plan ahead before you open registration.
What players see during guest checkout
The guest registration flow is a simple three-step checkout:
Tournament info: The player selects a division and enters partner information. Guests type their partner’s name instead of searching by Good Game Sports username.
Player details: The player enters their personal details, such as name, birthday, gender, and skill level.
Payment: The player enters a credit or debit card and completes payment through Stripe.
After payment, the host sees the guest in the tournament registrant list with their submitted details.
What to expect as a host
Guest registrants appear in your player list as guest entries.
Partner matching is more manual because guests do not search for or connect to a Good Game Sports profile during signup.
You may need to confirm partner assignments or player details yourself if the event depends on linked player profiles.
If you also need to choose your overall registration method, start with Creating an Event in GGS. To control who can find the tournament page, review Event visibility: public vs unlisted.
Guest checkout limitations
Guests cannot register for free tournaments. Free registration still requires an account.
Guests cannot register as free agents when payment is collected later.
Guests enter a partner name as plain text instead of selecting a Good Game Sports user profile.
If you want players to manage their profile inside Good Game Sports after registration, point them to Getting Started for Players.
