Register with a partner, and who pays
Every doubles division has a partner field on the registration page, and who pays depends on how you enter your partner. A partner you find by GGS username registers and pays for themselves. A partner you type in by name has no account to register with, so your checkout pays for their spot too — on tournaments, single-day events, and leagues alike. An entry fee is never split across two cards.
Name your partner while you register
The partner field sits on the division step, before payment. Your partner does not need a GGS account.
Select the division you are entering.
Under Partner Info, type your partner's GGS username and pick them from the search results.
If they have no GGS account, click Enter full name instead and type their full name.
Enter your partner's email — it is how they claim the spot you are buying.
Pick the mode that matches your partner: username search when they have an account and will pay their own entry, full name when you are paying for them.
Who pays the entry fee
The review step shows the total before you pay.
You searched your partner by username. Each player pays their own entry. Naming them records who you are playing with — it does not register them and does not charge you for them. They register through the same event link and pay separately.
You typed your partner's name. Your checkout covers their spot too, so you pay two entries, and your partner does not register again. The app tells you this before payment. Use the username search, or leave the field blank, if you would rather each pay separately.
A division set to Pairs. One checkout always registers both players and pays both entries. The partner's full name and email are required, and capacity is counted in teams.
When you pay for a typed-in partner, we email them a link to claim their spot, create their account, sign the waiver, and add their emergency contact. In a league they join with every upcoming night open, and opt in week by week like everyone else.
Buying single league nights
The one place you cannot pay for a partner is a drop-in checkout — buying individual league nights instead of the season. A covered spot is always a whole-season one, so on a drop-in checkout a typed-in name is contact info recording the pairing, nothing more, and the field says (optional). Register for the season if you want to cover your partner.
Can two players split one entry fee?
No. Either each player pays their own entry, or one player pays both. There is no way to charge half of one entry to each card, and no partial or deposit payment at registration.
Splitting a cost between players does exist for court reservations, where club members on a booking can each be charged their share. That applies to court bookings only, not to event registration.
Add or change a partner after you register
Nothing is locked in at checkout. If you registered without a partner, or the pairing is wrong, you can set it yourself.
Open the event and go to its player list.
Tap your own entry to open Edit your info.
Pick your partner from the Partner dropdown and save.
The dropdown offers registered players in your division who do not already have a partner. Hosts can set the same pairing for anyone from the event's Players tab, and can also enter a partner when they add players to the event.
When one of you names the other by username, we link you both automatically as soon as the second player registers — neither of you has to do anything else.
