Team and MLP-style formats overview
Team events are different from individual and set-partner formats because the result belongs to the team, not just the players on the court. Use them when you want captains to build lineups, manage substitutions, and track results across multiple lines.
Team formats work best when one person owns each roster. Captains handle lineups, while the host runs the event and updates settings as needed.
When to use a team format
Choose an MLP-style or custom team event when you want team rosters, captains, and lineup strategy instead of fixed player pairings.
How team events work
Team events use rosters, captains, and lineups instead of fixed player pairings. You register players to a team, assign a captain, and then use the event flow to set matchups and enter scores for each line.
Depending on the format, a team may play multiple lines in one round, rotate players between rounds, or compete inside separate bracket structures. That makes team formats a good fit for club leagues, interclub play, and formats where match strategy matters.
What the host manages
The host controls team registration, lineups, and event settings. Captains usually manage who plays in each line, while the host keeps the event moving and confirms scores.
