Create a Cream of the Crop event
Cream of the Crop runs as a League across multiple dates, or as a Single Day Event. Players register individually — partners change every game.
This format needs a multiple of 4 with at least 16 players, or exactly 25. Nothing else will generate. Read Player counts for Cream of the Crop before you open registration.
Create from CourtReserve
Use this when the event already exists in CourtReserve and registrations should stay linked.
Before you start: club owner access in Good Game Sports, CourtReserve admin access, and a CourtReserve plan with API access (Scale or Enterprise). If the integration is not connected, complete Enable API access in CourtReserve and Connect CourtReserve first.
Open your club page, then click Manage Club.
Select CourtReserve Events.
Find your event under Unpublished. Events sync from 2 days in the past to 100 days in the future.
Click + Create Event on GGS.
Set Event Type to League or Single Day Event, Type to Doubles, and Format to Cream of the Crop.
Click Create Event.
An event created directly in Good Game Sports cannot be linked to CourtReserve later. If you want registration sync, start from CourtReserve.
Create directly in Good Game Sports
From the dashboard, click + Create Event.
Enter the Event Name and set Event Type to League or Single Day Event.
Set Format to Cream of the Crop.
Fill in Location Details and Date and Time.
Choose your Registration Type and pricing, then continue.
On the divisions step set Division Type to Doubles and confirm the format.
Complete the description sections, then create the event.
Cap your registration
Because the count is strict, set a maximum participants figure at a valid number — 16, 20, 24, 28 — rather than leaving it open.
An open registration that lands on 22 or 26 means you cannot generate without sitting players out.
Add players
Players enter individually; there is no partner to record. Import a spreadsheet, use + Add Players, or sync from CourtReserve.
For CourtReserve-linked events, go to the Players tab and click Sync CR. See Sync players into an event.
Courts
Each group of four needs its own court, and they all play at once. Sixteen players means four courts; 32 means eight.
Unlike the ladder formats, there is no queue — every group plays simultaneously, so your court count sets your ceiling on roster size.
Set your standings sort
Finishing order inside a group decides everything about the next round, so the division's standings sort matters more here than in most formats. It determines who is 1st and who is 2nd when records are level.
Point differential is also the cross-group tiebreak when several players finish at the same rank. See How Standings Are Calculated.
For leagues, set up the season
Add your play dates — see Managing rounds and dates in Ladder formats.
Configure the opt-in deadline — each session is built from who opted in, and the count has to land on a valid number every week. See League opt-in.
