Create a Crazy 8's event
Crazy 8's runs as either a League across multiple dates, or a Single Day Event. Players register individually — partners change as the day goes on.
Create from CourtReserve
Use this when the event already exists in CourtReserve and registrations should stay linked.
Before you start: club owner access in Good Game Sports, CourtReserve admin access, and a CourtReserve plan with API access (Scale or Enterprise). If the integration is not connected, complete Enable API access in CourtReserve and Connect CourtReserve first.
Open your club page, then click Manage Club.
Select CourtReserve Events.
Find your event under Unpublished. Events sync from 2 days in the past to 100 days in the future.
Click + Create Event on GGS.
Set Event Type to League or Single Day Event, Type to Doubles, and Format to Crazy 8's.
Click Create Event.
An event created directly in Good Game Sports cannot be linked to CourtReserve later. If you want registration sync, start from CourtReserve.
Create directly in Good Game Sports
From the dashboard, click + Create Event.
Enter the Event Name and set Event Type to League or Single Day Event.
Set Format to Crazy 8's.
Fill in Location Details and Date and Time.
Choose your Registration Type and pricing, then continue.
On the divisions step set Division Type to Doubles and confirm the format.
Complete the description sections, then create the event.
Add players
Players enter individually — there is no partner to record. Import a spreadsheet, use + Add Players, or sync from CourtReserve.
For CourtReserve-linked events, go to the Players tab and click Sync CR. See Sync players into an event.
Plan your numbers around eight
Groups are eight players on two courts, so roster size matters more here than in most formats.
Multiples of 8 divide cleanly — 8, 16, 24, 32.
Anything else distributes the spares as ninth players, starting from the lowest group. A ninth sits out one round at a time and rotates.
Only one spare per group. If you have more than one extra per group, you need another group.
You also need two courts per group. Sixteen players means two groups and four courts running at once — worth checking against what your club actually has before the first session.
Check ratings before you generate
Seeds decide the opening pairings and which group each player lands in, and they come from your chosen sort at generation.
If your players' ratings are patchy or out of date, seed by hand instead — the group editor lets you set each player's number directly, and your order wins over the rating. See Seeds and groups in Crazy 8's.
For leagues, set up the season
Add your play dates. Each session is a date, and movement between groups happens between dates. See Managing rounds and dates in Ladder formats.
Configure the opt-in deadline. Each day's groups are built from who opted in. See League opt-in.
Review Ladder League Configuration for game scoring per group size. See Ladder League Configuration settings.
For a single day event, players check in on the day instead.
