Change the number of tiers or teams per tier in a Season Points League
Choose the number of tiers and teams per tier for a Season Points League (Set Partners) in the League Structure dialog that opens when you tap Generate League (Week 1). The default is 3 tiers of 5. For any other shape we calculate the season points table for you, so you only pick two numbers.
Set the shape
Decide the shape before Week 1. You need exactly tiers × teams per tier fully partnered teams, and the shape can't be changed once any match has a score.
On the Matches tab, open the admin menu and choose Generate League (Week 1).
Pick Tiers (2 to 8) and Teams per tier (3 to 10). The summary shows the team count, tier names and matches per week.
Tap Continue and confirm.
Shape | Teams needed | Default tier names |
|---|---|---|
3 tiers of 5 (default) | 15 | Gold, Silver, Bronze |
2 tiers of 6 | 12 | Tier 1, Tier 2 |
4 tiers of 5 | 20 | Tier 1 to Tier 4 |
Tier names
Gold, Silver and Bronze are used only with exactly three tiers; any other count uses Tier 1, Tier 2 and so on, with Tier 1 at the top. To use your own names, choose Rename Tiers in the admin menu at any time. Every tier needs a name, and names must be unique.
How season points work with a custom shape
The default 3 × 5 table pays 38, 27, 23, 18 and 15 in Gold, 25 down to 10 in Silver, and 17 down to 7 in Bronze. For any other shape we build a table on the same pattern when you generate:
The top tier's winner earns 38.
Each tier down pays about two thirds of the tier above.
Within a tier, points drop evenly by place, and last place earns 40% of that tier's winner.
A higher tier pays more than a lower one for the same finishing place, which is what makes climbing worth it. (With many tiers, the bottom places of the lowest tiers can all round to 1 point.) There is no table to enter in the app.
How many teams move each week
When you advance a week you choose how many teams promote and relegate. The maximum depends on the tier size, so the promoting and relegating teams never overlap.
Teams per tier | Teams that can move |
|---|---|
3 or 4 | 1 |
5 or 6 | 1 or 2 |
7 or 8 | 1, 2 or 3 |
9 or 10 | 1, 2, 3 or 4 |
