Configuring your event

Event settings

Use Event Settings to configure how your event runs after you create it. The options you see depend on the event format you chose, not whether GGS registration is enabled.

Open your event, then go to Event Settings. If a setting does not appear, your event format does not support it.

Settings available to all formats

  • Configure Courts sets up court numbers and availability so Good Game Sports can assign matches to courts.

  • Merge Divisions combines two or more divisions into one target division.

  • Manage Promo Codes opens the promo code manager so you can create, edit, and deactivate discount codes.

  • Pricing Configuration controls division pricing, early bird pricing, and registration caps.

  • Scoring Configuration controls whether standings use match wins or individual game wins.

  • Score Validation requires both teams to confirm a submitted score before it is final.

  • Minimum Games Configuration sets the default number of games or sets per match.

  • Name Display Configuration chooses whether the app shows full names or abbreviated names.

  • Player Verification Configuration controls how players verify their identity when they claim a host-created or bulk-uploaded registration.

  • Standings Sort Configuration sets the primary, secondary, and tertiary standings tiebreakers.

Settings for specific formats

  • Set Opt-In Deadline is for leagues only. It sets how far in advance players must opt in before each round starts.

  • Check-In Configuration is for non-league events only. It controls whether players must check in before play starts.

  • Team Lineup Configuration is for team formats only, including 24-hour and MLP league formats. Use it to set how many lines each team matchup includes. For more detail, see Configure team lineups.

  • Team Scoring Configuration is for team formats only. It controls team scoring rules and who can enter scores.

  • Team Event Configuration is for team formats only. It controls whether players can create teams, whether free agents are allowed, and related team setup options. See Team creation and captain settings and Free agent settings.

  • Ladder League Configuration is for ladder league variants only. It controls how far players move up or down and partner match behavior for doubles ladders.

GGS registration applicability

These settings are not gated by GGS registration. They are all based on the format you picked when you created the event.

If you need help because Event Settings is failing to load or you are seeing a 400-type error, email [email protected].

What to set up next

After you finish Event Settings, continue with event creation in Creating an Event in GGS or review related format-specific setup in Configuring custom round labels.
