How Reign of the Court works
Reign of the Court is a two-stage event: first a round robin, then the field splits into a TOP bracket and a BOTTOM bracket, so every player or team finishes with a knockout against people at their level. Choose it under Specialty Formats when you create an event. There are two versions: Reign of the Court for individuals with rotating partners, and Reign of the Court (Set Partners) for fixed teams.
Players don't move up and down courts between rounds in either version. If that's what you want, use Up and Down the River or a Ladder League instead.
Reign of the Court (rotating partners)
Players sign up on their own. Pair sign-up isn't available for this version.
Round robin. Each round, players get a new partner. Partners rotate to give the most variety and to avoid anyone having the same partner two rounds in a row. Results count toward each player's own standing.
Brackets. The top-ranked players go to the TOP bracket and the next group to the BOTTOM bracket. You choose 4, 6 or 8 players for each.
Inside each bracket, players are paired into teams by rank. With 8 players, 1st partners 5th, 2nd partners 6th, 3rd partners 7th and 4th partners 8th. With 6 players, the pairs are 1st and 6th, 2nd and 5th, 3rd and 4th, and one team gets a bye. The teams then play semifinals and a final, plus a 3rd-place match when nobody has a bye. With 4 players, 1st partners 4th and 2nd partners 3rd, and the two teams play a final.
Players are ranked for the brackets by win percentage, then point differential. Withdrawn players are left out.
Reign of the Court (Set Partners)
Teams keep the same partner throughout, and singles works too.
Pool play. Teams play a round robin within their pool: each opponent once, each opponent twice, or a set number of rounds.
Brackets. You send either the top teams from each pool or a set number of teams overall to the TOP bracket, and the rest (or a number you choose) to the BOTTOM bracket. Both are single elimination, with a 3rd-place match when the bracket has two semifinals.
Teams are split using the division's standings order. Each bracket needs at least 2 teams.
Where to follow it
Both versions have four tabs: MATCHES for the round robin, STANDINGS, and TOP and BOTTOM for the brackets.
