Creating multiple divisions within an event
Create multiple divisions when one event needs separate brackets for different skill levels, age groups, genders, or capacities. Divisions keep registration, scheduling, and standings organized without splitting the event into separate tournaments.
Set up your event first in Creating an Event in GGS. Then add divisions before you open registration.
When to use multiple divisions
Use divisions when players should only compete against a defined group. Common examples are intermediate and advanced brackets, mixed and gender-specific groups, or separate age bands.
If your event is a league, keep divisions simple. For most league workflows, separate events are easier to manage.
Before you add divisions
Plan the details for each division before registration opens. Decide the division name, format, capacity, date, time, and any skill, gender, age, or rating limits.
If each division needs its own court plan, review Court configuration per division before you save the event.
Add a division
Open the event creation flow and go to the divisions step.
Turn on Setup Multiple Divisions. The Add Division form opens.
Fill in the division details and tap Save.
For each further division, tap Add Division and repeat.
You can use the previous division as a template when you add the next one, then change only the fields that need to be different.
Add a division to an event that has already started
You can add a division after registration opens or matches are played. The divisions you already have keep their players, matches and scores.
In the event's Host Dashboard, open the SETTINGS tab and tap Edit Event.
Choose Divisions. If the event has only one division, choose Additional Information and turn on Setup Multiple Divisions.
Tap Add Division and fill in the details.
Tap Save under the new division, then Save at the bottom of the page.
The new division starts out as a copy of the last one, including its name, dates, time and price. Rename it and check those fields before you save.
After saving:
The new division has no matches. Open it on the Matches tab and generate its matches.
In a league, the new division has no play dates unless you changed the play days in the same edit. Set them with Manage Round Dates in the Matches admin menu before you generate.
Players can sign up for it whenever the event's registration is open.
In a tournament or single day event, the event price becomes the base price once you have several divisions. A new division charges the base price plus its own fee, unless you choose Set this division's own total price. A player already registered in another division doesn't pay the base price again. League divisions have no price of their own: everyone pays the event price.
What to configure for each division
At minimum, set the division name, format, and capacity. Add the skill range, gender, age requirements, and rating requirements only when you need them.
Use the division list to review each card before you publish. Edit or delete a division if the structure changes before registration starts.
Next step
After your divisions are set, finish event setup in Event settings.
