The list only shows events that belong to your club, started before this event, and have at least one scored division. An event with no scores yet, an event from another club, or one that started after this one won't appear.
Seed the first round from a previous event
Start a new season's ladder where the last one finished. Pick one or more divisions from an earlier event at your club, and the first round places returning players in the order they finished there, with new players below them.
This works in Ladder League, Ladder League (Set Partners), Up and Down the River (both variants) and Cream of the Crop. You choose it when you generate the first round, before any round in the division has scores.
Seed round 1
Open the sorting dialog for round 1, as you would to start any ladder. See Starting games in Ladder formats.
Choose From a Previous Event.
Under Find the earlier event, search by event name, or pick from the recent events listed below the search box.
Tap an event to see its divisions, then tick the division to seed from.
Check the summary of who was found, then tap Continue.
Review the courts in Edit Player Groups, and move anyone you want before play starts.
The list shows your club's events that started before this one and have at least one scored division. Continue stays off until at least one player in this round is found in the division you picked.
Combine two divisions
Tick more than one division when last season's players are spread across several, for example a 3.5 and a 3.0 division merging into one ladder. The divisions stack in the order shown under Seeding from: everyone in the first division ranks above everyone in the second.
Use the up and down arrows to change which division ranks first.
Someone who played in both divisions takes their place in the higher one.
Divisions can come from different events.
How players are matched
We find each player in the earlier division by their GGS account first. If that doesn't find them, we look for the same email and the same name together.
A name on its own never matches. Two players called John Smith with different emails stay two different people.
Two different GGS accounts are never treated as the same person, even with the same email and name.
Family members who share one email are kept apart by their names.
The summary shows how many players playing this round were found, and how many by account or by email and name. Tap Show names to see who wasn't found.
Partner ladders
In Ladder League (Set Partners) and the set-partners variant of Up and Down the River, a team is matched only when the same two partners played together in the earlier division. A team with a new partner counts as new.
For that reason, a partner ladder only lists divisions where pairs played together. Singles and rotating-partner divisions aren't offered for it.
It works the other way round: a ladder of individual players can seed from a partner event. Both partners take their team's finishing place, and if they meet on the same ladder, the higher DUPR goes first.
Where everyone starts
Returning players are placed in their finishing order from the earlier division. Players who weren't found start below every returning player, highest DUPR first, then players with no rating in random order. A rating you entered for a player without DUPR counts as their rating.
We read the earlier division's final standings, the same order its results show. For a ladder that is the final ladder. When the earlier division played in separate pools, the pool winners come first, then every second place, and so on.
Opted-out players
Only players playing this round are placed on courts. Someone who opted out of the date, or whom you left out of it, gets no court even if they finished first last season.
In Ladder League, players sitting out are ranked below everyone playing, in their seeded order. They work their way back up from there.
Team events (MLP and 24-hour formats) are never listed. Their standings rank whole teams, not players or pairs.
Troubleshooting
The event I want isn't in the list
A division is missing from an event
Divisions with no scored games aren't listed. On a partner ladder, singles and rotating-partner divisions aren't listed either, because no team could match.
It says none of the players played in that division
Nobody playing this round was found by account or by email and name. Check that returning players registered with the same account or email, or pick a different division.
From a Previous Event isn't offered
The option appears only for the first round, before any round in the division has scores, and only in Ladder League, Up and Down the River and Cream of the Crop. It also needs this event to belong to a club.
