Open Play
Open Play is a casual, pick-up style format where registered players create their own games. There are no brackets, no scheduled rounds—players show up, organize their own matches, and play.
Choose Open Play when you want a flexible, self-organizing event format that works well for weekly club sessions or drop-in play.
How it works
Players register for the division, then use the matches tab to create their own singles or doubles games. Matches go live immediately. Players pick their own teammates and opponents from the roster, and scores are entered the same way as other formats.
The system tracks individual standings—wins, losses, and point differential—so players can see how they're performing across all their games.
For hosts
Select Open Play when creating a league or single-day event.
No need to manage matchups—players self-organize.
Admins can also create games, add players to the roster, delete any match (including scored ones), and substitute players.
If your club has courts configured, games are automatically assigned to available courts.
Admins see a standings admin tab to control how standings are sorted and displayed.
For players
Any registered player can create a singles or doubles game from the matches tab.
Pick your teammates and opponents from the roster.
Players can add others to the roster by name or by linking a GGS username.
Use the search bar to find matches by team name or match number.
Matches start live immediately when created—tap the match to enter scores.
Individual standings
Open Play tracks individual player performance, not team standings. Players accumulate wins, losses, and point differential across all the games they play. This makes it easy to see who's performing well without requiring fixed partnerships.

Start by Creating an Event in GGS. Then set up courts in Event settings if your club has court assignments.
Court assignment
If your club has courts configured, games are automatically assigned to available courts. If courts aren't configured, the court assignment UI is hidden—games still go live normally without the extra buttons and labels cluttering the screen.
